Plaster and paintwork is progressing and the window installation has started.

Communication via an Academy wide broadcast to all staff and students helps to keep everyone informed and maintains a healthy interest.

It might only be a concrete floor but it's a start. Fingers crossed that all those drainage points are in the right place and there are enough of them.

The new Director of Outdoor Ed shared his concern that it is a common mistake not to put floor drainage in a drying room, when in fact all the run-off from wet clothing needs to go somewhere!

After some time to decide on the colour of the mortar (brown or natural) we decided upon the natural look. Now the work has started on the 2.5m high perimeter brickwork. So far the standard of bricklaying is excellent, very consistent and clean.

The company carrying out the cabling works on behalf of NEDL have had to delay the connection date from the 21st August 2006 to 30th August 2006.

On the positive side; the disruption to the electricity supply to the Academy will take place approximately between the hours of 8pm and 10pm at night which should make the disruption minimal.

They will still be excavating their trench from the sub-station into
the public highway and up the side of Engineering this week. Then they will be drawing the cable into the trench allowing Surgo to back-fill early next week.

Over the summer break new mobiles were installed to provide decanting space for when the refurbishment work starts. Small scale refurbishment will be ongoing over the next 12 months.
